GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Following the conclusion of the 2026 MLB Draft, teams have until July 27th to sign the newest draft picks.
On July 17th, four former Gators officially put pen to paper to play professionally.
Outfielder Kyle Jones signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, the franchise that selected him in the third round with the 102nd overall pick in the MLB draft this month. His contract is worth $675,000, which is $95,600 under the $770,600 slot value for his pick.
Right-handed pitcher Russell Sandefer signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who selected him in the fourth round with the 132nd overall pick of the 2026 MLB Draft, on Friday. Sanderfer’s deal with the Dodgers comes in at $434,000 — $141,300 under the $575,300 slot value for his draft selection.

Outfielder Hayden Yost signed with the Seattle Mariners, the franchise that selected him in the fifth round of the 2026 MLB Draft with the No. 162 overall pick, on Saturday. Further details on the deal haven’t been announced but his slot value is set at $429,100.
Blake Cyr signed in pinstripes on July 17th as well. The New York Yankees selected Florida outfielder Blake Cyr with the 548th overall pick in the 18th round of the 2026 MLB draft.
First-rounder Liam Peterson has yet to officially sign with the Guardians.
