The Texas Rangers just finished a homestand where they went 3-3 in 6 games. The team only surrendered 8 runs in 6 games and still managed to lose 3 of them.

While the offense is by no means fixed, the team did seems to take a step in the correct direction the past week.

Notable Absence:

Joc Pederson and Adolis Garcia were missing for a series against the Cardinals in which the Rangers scored 19 runs. Pederson, who is currently on the injured list, was slashing .131/.269/.238/.507 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI, has been loess than productive the entire season.

Adolis, who is slashing .208/.256/.371/.626 with 7 home runs and 57 strike outs in 56 games played. He was supposed to get a mental rest day Friday, which them stretched into Saturday and Sunday.

The Rangers scored 18 runs in the previous nine games they played before the Cardinals series with Adolis in the lineup, and 19 runs in the three games against St Louis without Garcia in the lineup.

With players like Sam  Haggerty and Alejandro Osuna stepping up in big ways, and Marcus Semien having an amazing weekend at the plate, Garcia was not needed at all.

Clutch Performances

Speaking of Semien, he looked really good at the plate all weekend long, getting a hit or walking in the majority of his plate appearances against the Cards.

“It’s not about me,” Semien said after Friday’s game. “We got a good win. Having four good at-bats and producing tonight to help us win, sure, it makes me feel better about myself, but this was a team win for sure.”

Wyatt Langford also had a good offensive weekend, as he now leads the team with 11 homeruns. The whole team is looking more comfortable at the plate.

Does this means the offense is back? Absolutely not, but it is a step in the correct direction. The Cards came into this series hot, and the Rangers cooled their bats down.

Now they go back on the road, a place that they have struggled mightily this season. In order for the offense to be “back”, they a re going to need to prove it on the road.

We all remember how good this team was away from Arlington in the 2023 post season. We need to see that level of play from the offense for all of us to buy in that they can still win the division.

Conclusion

I feel better about this offense after the weekend, but still not good. I need to see more, I need Garcia to get back on track, I need Semien to stay hot.

Corey Seager needs to stay healthy, Joc Pederson needs to remember how to hit.

The Texas Rangers have the puzzle pieces, they just need to put them together and win some games.
