CHICAGO – The Detroit Tigers have placed right-hander Jack Flaherty on the 15-day injured list after he experienced right flexor inflammation following his start against the Chicago Cubs.
Flaherty left Monday’s (July 21) game after four innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, two walks and two home runs while striking out four.
He threw 82 pitches, with 47 for strikes.
The Tigers did not provide a timetable for Flaherty’s return.
To fill the rotation vacancy, Detroit recalled right-hander Ty Madden from Triple-A Toledo.

Flaherty’s 2026 season
Flaherty has appeared in 19 games this season, posting a 3-8 record with a 4.48 ERA and 102 strikeouts over 86â…“ innings. He carries a 1.41 WHIP.
What’s next for Detroit’s rotation
The IL placement gives the Tigers an opportunity to manage Flaherty’s recovery while monitoring the inflammation in his throwing arm.
