GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Colorado Rockies Slugger Hunter Goodman is on pace to potentially break the franchise’s single-season home run record, a mark that has stood for more than two decades.
Goodman, a two-time consecutive All-Star, leads the National League in slugging percentage and ranks second in the NL in home runs with 31 on the season. He is hitting a home run approximately every 11 at-bats (11.53) putting him on pace for 48-49 home runs this season.
The Rockies’ single-season home run record stands at 49, a mark shared by two players. Larry Walker set it first during his MVP season in 1997. Todd Helton matched it four years later in 2001.
Goodman hit 27 home runs before the All-Star break. He needs 19 more to break the record.
