Central Lee High School lost its first softball game off the season Saturday but also won two games by a combined 16-1 score at a tournament in Ottumwa at Indian Hills Community College.
The Hawks have a 5-1 record. The Hawks play three home games this week: Wapello Monday, Columbus Tuesday, Mediapolis Thursday then hit the road for Friday’s game at West Burlington.
The Hawks had four hits in a 13-0 four-inning loss to Carlisle, ranked eighth in Class 4A.
In a 9-0 win against Seymour, Kenna Sandoval and Olivia Day each hit a home run while Aubree Bunnell had a double. Seymour had five errors and issued four walks.
Elaina Barlow threw all five innings for the win with a single hit allowed, no walks, and four strikeouts.
Jaci Hawk went 3-for-4 against Moravia with a sixth-inning triple. Kamryn Cox hit two doubles in her three at bats. Sandoval had a double.
Hayden Rule pitched the win and gave up six hits, nine strikeouts with one walk in seven innings.
