SEATTLE, WA. — A strong power season at Mississippi State helped third baseman Ace Reese reach the Seattle Mariners at No. 24 in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Reese entered the draft ranked as the top third baseman in the class and the No. 17 overall prospect, which made his selection later in the first round stand out.
He played through a toe injury early in his junior season and still finished with a .336 batting average, 24 home runs and 74 RBIs, putting him among the top 10 home run hitters in the NCAA.
Reese says he still hopes to remain at third base even after limited time at the position in recent years because of injuries.
“I just haven’t had that much experience there. It’s a newer position for me these last couple of years battling through some injuries. So, I’m just ready to go get after it. With the full, healthy slate” Reese said.
Reese signed his contract on July 21 with a $3.5 million signing bonus, which was $300,000 below slot value.
The Mariners add a highly regarded infield prospect with the 24th pick.
