The Rangers are sending 19-year-old infield prospect Angel Arredondo back to the Angels in exchange for the bullpen and catching help.
Silseth is a 26-year-old right-handed reliever who’s spent his entire five-season major league career with the Angels. He’s been one of LA’s best bullpen arms over the past season and a half or so, posting an ERA of 2.49 in 50.2 innings pitched between this season and last. In 2026 he’s thrown 39.2 innings with 48 strikeouts.
O’Hoppe is also 26 and has also spent his full major league career with LA. His offensive numbers have taken a tumble in 2026, his OPS of .565 down 74 points from last season. But the Rangers are in a rough spot at catcher currently, both of their opening day backstops currently on the injured list. O’Hoppe will be optioned to Triple-A Round Rock for the time being, according to Dallas Morning News insider Evan Grant.
Arredondo is a shortstop prospect who was originally signed by the Rangers in their international class of 2024. The Mexican native has posted an OPS of .769 in 86 games this season for Low-A Hickory.
The MLB trade deadline is at 5 p.m. on Aug. 3.
