Jake Rogers, 31
The Detroit Tigers have traded Jake Rogers, 31, known as a first-rate defensive catcher but not a particularly great hitter, to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for a minor league pitcher.
The Detroit News reports:
Rogers, who played parts of six seasons with the Tigers and was the primary catcher in 2023 and 2024, was DFA’d to make room for the return of Javier Báez and also to clear a path for rookie Eduardo Valencia.
Barnhart, a product of Hillsdale College, was a 17th-round pick of the Orioles in 2023. The 24-year-old is in his second season in Double-A. Working as a reliever, he had a 4.05 ERA in 40 innings over 31 games playing at Chesapeake.
