Georgia baseball held the honor of being the most represented university in the 2026 MLB Draft, with 13 former players hearing their names called by big league clubs.

Golden Spikes winner Daniel Jackson was the first Bulldog to be selected, slipping out of the first round but landing with the Colorado Rockies at 37th overall. In Denver, Jackson will join former Bulldog Charlie Condon, who also won the Golden Spikes Award in 2024 and was selected third overall that year by the Rockies.

Two other Georgia players were selected on Day 1 of the draft: pitcher Joey Volchko and outfielder Rylan Lujo. Volchko was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the third round, while Lujo was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth round.

Ten more Bulldogs went on the second day of the draft, ranging from newcomers in 2025-26 to three-year contributors. Right-handed pitcher Justin Byrd joined Lujo with his selection to the Angels, shortstop Kolby Branch was taken by his hometown team in the Texas Rangers and third baseman Tre Phelps landed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. First baseman and catcher Brennan Hudson rounded out the group with this selection to the Chicago Cubs in the 20th round, the final round of the draft.

The 13 players drafted was the most players Georgia has ever seen get selected in one draft class, yet another program record broken after the incredible season.

Despite the large chunk of talent leaving Georgia to pursue a professional career in baseball, the Bulldogs have already been actively recruiting new talent to replenish the roster for next season.
