GREEN RIVER — The Cody Cubs are the 2026 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division II champions after going 4-1 during the state tournament in Green River this weekend.

The Jackson Giants earned second place, with the championship game going 11-1 for the Cubs. The Lovell Mustangs took third while the hosting Green River Knights took fourth. 

GAME 1: CODY 11, CHEYENNE 5

The teams tussled over the lead in the third and fourth innings, with the Cheyenne Eagles on top 5-4 midway through the game. But the Cubs rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and held their fresh lead at 11-4 for the rest of the game. Gaige Machen, Lane Delzer and Easton Johnson led the Cody offense with two RBI each. The Cody pitching staff of Delzer, Machen and Russell Underberg combined for seven strikeouts through the seven-inning game.

GAME 2: LOVELL 13, WHEATLAND 8

The Lovell Mustangs never trailed in the game, but what really secured the victory was a big 10-run fifth inning. Kannon Owens drove in a team-leading three RBI for the Mustangs, while Kyle Wilson, Rocco Rael and Jaxen Baxendale each contributed two. Wheatland Lobo Kenny Raser had a perfect 3-for-3 day.

GAME 3: RIVERTON 6, TORRINNGTON 0

Brayden Baker of the Riverton Raiders pitched a 15-strikeout no-hitter in the seven-inning contest. Addison Trujillo and Basyn Anderson had two hits each for the Raiders, and Anderson led the team with two RBI.

GAME 4: JACKSON 6, GREEN RIVER 1

The Jackson Giants picked up a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there. They outhit the Knights 12-3. Brenden Menke and Nico Cabradilla led the Jackson lineup, each driving in a pair of RBI.

GAME 5: TORRINGTON 9, CHEYENNE 5 

The Tigers eliminated the Eagles from further tournament play. Cheyenne lead the game through the fifth inning before extending their advantage to 5-2 in the top of the sixth. Torrington responded with a seven-run rally in the bottom of the frame to take the lead and put the score at its final 9-5. Ebin Hunter went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Tigers.

GAME 6: GREEN RIVER 11, WHEATLAND 5

The Knights eliminated the Lobos. Wheatland led 2-0 until Green River tied it in the fourth and took the lead for good in the fifth. Brylan Ginestar went 3-for-4 with three RBI while fellow Knight Korbin Nielson was a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. 

GAME 7: CODY 11, RIVERTON 5

The Raiders led by as much as 5-2 before the Cubs’ seven-run rally in the bottom of the fourth. Kanin Phillips, who went 2-for-2 including a home run, led Cody in RBI with three. Easton Hartley and Delzer were right behind him with two and one RBI, respecitively, and each had a pair of hits as well. Hartley struck out 10 batters in 6.1 innings on the mound.

GAME 8: LOVELL 7, JACKSON 6

The Giants scored three runs each in the second and fourth innings to get out to a 6-0 lead, but the Mustangs had other plans. They used the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to mount a comeback, completing it with a four-run seventh. Mac Morgan (4-for-5), Cash Wassmer (3-for-5) and Baxendale (4-for-4) had multi-hit performances while Wassmer pitched all seven innings in the victory.

GAME 9: GREEN RIVER 6, RIVERTON 5

The Knights eliminated the Raiders. Riverton led 5-3 after fourth complete innings of action, then Green River scored two in the sixth to tie it. Davy Puckett knocked a bunt in the bottom of the seventh to score Landon Smart and get his team the walk-off win. Puckett and Oliver Akin each pitched in an RBI, but Ginestar led the pack with three.

GAME 10: JACKSON 10, TORRINGTON 6

The Giants eliminated the Tigers. Torrington put up a 5-0 wall in the first inning, but led the lead slip away after the Jackson scored two or more runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Menke (three RBI), Sam Peterman (three RBI) and Wyatt Moore (two RBI) led the Jackson offense. Kai Tanabe pitched 6.1 innings in relief for the Giants and allowed just three hits and no earned runs while collecting four strikeouts.

GAME 11: CODY 8, LOVELL 0

Cody’s Kanin Phillips pitched a no-hitter in the six-inning contest, and he went 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate. Tommy Sitz and Easton Johnson contributed two RBI to led the Cubs. 

GAME 12: LOVELL 6, GREEN RIVER 5

The Mustangs eliminated the Knights. Lovell led 4-1 until Green River pulled ahead 5-4 in the seventh inning. The Mustangs tied it in the bottom of the frame to set up the walk-off win in the eighth. Green River’s Akin led all batters with three RBI, Lovell’s Baxendale drove in two.

GAME 13: JACKSON 10, CODY 1

Jackson gave Cody its first loss of the tournament and extended their own playoff run. A seven-run second inning gave the Giants the lead and they never looked back after that. Brandon Torres led the winning offense in his 2-for-3, four-RBI performance. Derringer Holding pitched the complete five-inning game for Jackson, striking out seven along the way.

GAME 14: JACKSON 3, LOVELL 0

The Giants eliminated the Mustangs. Lovell outhit Jackson 6-4, but never drove any runners in. Menke, Milo Gray and Moore all scored runs for the Giants while Corbin Goodell pitched a complete game, five-strikeout victory.

CHAMPIONSHIP: CODY 11, JACKSON 1

The Cubs got their revenge over the Giants to claim the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division II State title. They only needed four innings to post their 11-1 lead and scored at least once in each frame. Gaige Machen led the way with two RBI, but Phillips, Undeberg, Delzer, Sitz, Tate Machen and Nic Horst each drove one in as well. Delzer handled pitching duties and allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out three.
