Toronto Blue Jays announce lineup changes before Chicago Cubs game.

The Toronto Blue Jays will play a make-up game against the Chicago Cubs today. Ahead of the matchup, the Blue Jays have announced some lineup changes involving Luis Urias, Alejandro Kirk, and Davis Schneider.

The Blue Jays are fresh off a series victory over the Houston Astros. On Wednesday night, they featured some new players who helped them push to a 5-4 victory in a 10-inning game.

Jameson Taillon and Josh Smith made their Blue Jays debuts. Taillon recorded four strikeouts and two walks while only surrendering six hits, one home run, and three runs in four innings of work.

UPDATE: According to Shi Davidi, Urias hurt himself while running the bases in the fourth inning. He was taken out and replaced by Josh Smith.

Before Thursday’s afternoon game, the Blue Jays announced some changes to their lineup.

For starters, Brandon Valenzuela, Jesus Sanchez, and the aforementioned Smith have been removed from today’s lineup. Replacing them are Urias, Davis Schneider, and Alejandro Kirk.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains out of the lineup.

Kirk will be filling in at catcher, while Urias comes into the lineup at second base. As a result, Ernie Clement moves over to third. Schneider will replace Sanchez at LF.

In 25 games this year, Urias has recorded 12 hits, two doubles, three home runs, and eight RBIs to go along with a .240 batting average.

Sanchez was returning from a rehab assignment. This year, Sanchez has played in 77 games. In those games, he has recorded 61 hits, 14 doubles, eight home runs, 32 RBIs, and one stolen base, along with a .270 batting average.

Ahead of Thursday afternoon’s game against the Blue Jays, the Cubs announced a few transactions.

For starters, they optioned Tyler Ferguson to Triple-A Iowa. Following that move, they recalled Braxton Garrett.

Today’s game will be broadcast at 12:20 PM Mountain Time, 2:20 PM Eastern Time. On Friday, the Blue Jays will begin a series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Until then, the Blue Jays will focus on the Cubs, who are red-hot following their sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
