CHEYENNE – After being held scoreless in their American Legion Northwest Regional tournament opener, the Cheyenne Sixers hung eight runs on nine hits to down the Missoula Mavericks Thursday in Medford, Oregon.

Cheyenne saw its 3-0 lead cut to one in the bottom of the second inning after allowing runners to get to second and third with no outs. The Sixers bounced back, scoring a pair in each of the next two innings to take control of the game before adding the final run in the top of the sixth.

Catcher Brayden Kamarad notched three of Cheyenne’s nine hits, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and team-leading three RBI. Shortstop Quentin King and first baseman Kayden Tafoya added a pair of hits each.

Kian McDonough picked up the win on the mound for the Sixers, going all seven innings and allowing just one earned run.

The Sixers will play another elimination game at 10:30 a.m. Friday against the loser of Washington’s Tri-City Titans and Idaho’s Lewis-Clark Twins.
