The Captains took the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, only to have Lansing score twice in the bottom of the inning and win, 6-5, in a walk-off Aug. 6.
The Lugnuts took a 4-3 lead with a solo home run in the eighth inning. The Captains regained the lead in the top of the ninth when Anthony Martinez hit a two-run home run. That put Lake County up, 5-4.
Lake County got two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Lansing singled in the game-tying run off Logan McGuire (3-1), then won it with another RBI single two batters later.
Welbyn Francisca paced the Captains with an RBI double and a two-run home run. Juan Benjamin had three hits and scored a run. Jeffrey Mercedes had two hits, including his 16th double of the season.
The Captains had 12 hits, but struck out 11 times and were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Lake County starter Jackson Humphries pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up three runs, but none were earned because of an error by Francisca.
The Captains (54-47) have lost each of the first three games of the series and have given up at least six runs in all three.
The series continues Aug. 7 at Lansing.
