Cleveland Guardians first baseman Kyle Manzardo, a Lake City High grad and Washington State great, was sent down to Triple-A Columbus earlier this week.
The 26-year-old has been a regular in Cleveland’s lineup for most of the past two seasons, but he’s struggled to stay consistent at the plate this year and is now headed to the minors for the first time since August 2024.
Manzardo hit .215 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs over 102 games with Cleveland this year. He’s slugging a career-low .378 and went just 10-for-71 (.141) in July.
Manzardo has appeared in 297 major-league games since his debut in 2024, all with Cleveland. He had a breakout season last year, hitting .234 with 27 homers, 19 doubles and 70 RBIs in 142 games, and entered the 2026 campaign with expectations to be an everyday contributor for the club at first base or designated hitter.
