The Westside Little League 9-, 10- and 11-year-old All-Star baseball team was celebrated at a pizza party at Straw Hat Pizza Thursday evening that was put on by city officials. 

The team defeated Thousand Oaks and Foothill Little League teams to advance to the state tournament in San Diego.

There at Mira Mesa Park the team lost 4-1 to Palos Verdes and then 6-4 to Santa Margarita in extra innings.

Despite the losses, coach Brian Rodriguez said he was proud of his team.

“We haven’t gone that far since 1998,” Rodriguez said. “It was a big achievement for them.”

The Westside Little League All-Star Team included Achilles Regalado, Adrian Lopez, Cain Gonzalez, Elijah Valdez, John Ramirez III, Julian Rodriguez, Kayne Leslie, Mateo Maldonado, Mathias Echavarria, Ricky Ray Valdez, Sonny Regaldo, and Xavier Ortega.Â
