Former Tennessee baseball star Blake Burke is returning to the Volunteer State. The Milwaukee Brewers are promoting Burke to Triple-A Nashville for the final six weeks of the season, MiLB Central’s Chase Ford first reported on Sunday night.

Burke spent the final 37 games of the 2025 season and the first 96 games of this season with the Brewers’ Double-A affiliate in Biloxi. The first baseman slashed .285/.367/.603 with 30 home runs, 25 doubles, 88 RBIs and even 28 stolen bases this season.

At his current pace, Burke would hit 51 home runs and 42 doubles while totaling 149 RBIs over a 162-game stretch. Tennessee fans got an up close look at Burke in Knoxville earlier this summer when the Biloxi Shuckers faced off against the Smokies.

Burke hit 3-for-20 in the six games but reached base on balls five times. All three of Burke’s hits went for extra bases including a pair of doubles and a home run in Sunday’s series finale. Somewhat surprisingly, Burke also stole three bases in the six-game series.

The first baseman’s home run in the Sunday game made his just the third player in Shuckers’ history to total 20-plus home runs and 20-plus stolen bases in the same season.

Burke was a three-year contributor at Tennessee, splitting playing time as the designated hitter in his freshman season before starting at first base in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

The left-handed slugger finished his career with 50 home runs, second to only Christian Moore for the most in the history of the Vols’ program. Burke slashed .379/.449/.702 while helping lead Tennessee to the 2024 National Championship. He hit 20 home runs and broke the Tennessee single-season record with 30 doubles.

The Milwaukee Brewers selected Burke with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft shortly after he helped lead Tennessee to the 2024 national championship.
