The Arizona Diamondbacks continue their playoff push as a series opens against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.

Despite alternating wins and losses over their last nine games, the Arizona Diamondbacks continue to make noise in the National League West race as they head into Monday night’s series opener against the Colorado Rockies just 7.5 games behind the Dodgers for the division lead and currently hold one of three wild card spots in the NL. Since sweeping the Royals last week, the Rockies have dropped five of six games, including three in a row at home. They send Gabriel Hughes (0-3, 4.25 ERA) to the mound for his sixth career start. Arizona will counter with veteran right-hander Michael Soroka (8-3, 3.07 ERA) in his return to the rotation from the injured list due to a glute injury that sidelined him since mid-June.

Rockies left fielder Jake McCarthy is fourth in the league batting .306 this season, posting a whopping 17 hits in his first eight games of August. McCarthy, who spent five seasons with Arizona, was dealt to Colorado prior to the start of the 2026 season and has flourished as the everyday starter in left field, posting career-highs in doubles, home runs and RBIs, and has surpassed 20 or more stolen bases for the fourth time in the last five years.
