{KXLG – Watertown, SD} Watertown Post 17 split a doubleheader against Yankton Post 12 at Watertown Stadium on Saturday, with a dominant offensive performance in the second game securing a 7-3 victory after Yankton claimed a tight 3-1 win in the opener. The split gives the Arrows a 6-1 record in the legion season, marking their first loss of the year.

Game one was a pitcher’s duel where Yankton edged out a 3-1 victory. Watertown’s Kaden Rylance was impressive on the mound, striking out 11 batters while conceding only three hits across four innings. Offensively, Nash Berg provided the Arrows’ lone RBI with his single.

However, Watertown’s bats came alive in the second game, spearheaded by a standout performance from Markus Pitkin. Pitkin drove in an impressive four runs on three hits, including a triple in the first inning and doubles in both the second and fourth innings. Nash Berg continued his strong day at the plate, adding another two RBIs on two hits. On the pitching side for game two, Talan Jurgens earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on seven hits while recording three strikeouts.

Looking ahead, Watertown (6-1, overall record 18-13) will stay at home to face Renner in another doubleheader scheduled for Monday, June 9th. The games will be at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Post 17 TV. Additionally, the previously scheduled game against Groton on Thursday has been cancelled.
