Left-hander Jagger Haynes turned in his best start yet for Triple-A El Paso and the bullpen threw four shutout innings in a 5-2 win over visiting Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Haynes (9.00 ERA) struck out five and allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks.
The 23-year-old Haynes was making his fourth start after posting a 4.37 ERA over 94â…” innings to start the season at Double-A San Antonio.
Right-hander Logan Gillaspie (5-4, 6.24 ERA) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.
Catcher Ethan Salas (1.009 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Shortstop Mason McCoy (.747 OPS) went 2-for-3 with his ninth homer.
Catcher Rodolfo Durán (.770 OPS), third baseman Clay Dungan (.706 OPS) and right fielder Nick Solak (.892 OPS) each had a double.
El Paso is 48-67.
