The Philadelphia Phillies (37-23) opened their series north of the border with an 8-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays (31-29) on Tuesday night to put their four game skid to bed.

The offense pounced on Jays’ starter, Bowden Francis, by batting around and scoring six in the opening frame of the game.

It couldn’t have started any worse for Francis, who issued a four-pitch leadoff walk to Bryson Stott before surrendering back to back home runs by Trea Turner and Bryce Harper.

Four more singles by Alec Bohm, Max Kepler, JT Realmuto and Stott and a hit-by-pitch to Nick Castellanos plated three more runs before the inning was through.

In Harper’s first game back since getting dinged on the elbow a week ago, he went 1-3 with two walks and would score again in the second inning after a fly out by Nick Castellanos and an off line throw to third.

Cristopher Sanchez (5-1, 3.15 ERA) cruised for much of the evening after being staked to the generous lead. He went six innings allowing only one run on a solo home run to Davis Schneider to begin the bottom of the fifth.

The Phillies would tack on another run in the top of the eighth courtesy of Turner’s second home run of the night. After hitting .245 with one home run in his first 25 games, in his last 33 games Turner has hit .348 and belted 6 homers.

Joe Ross pitched a scoreless seventh inning and Max Lazar took mop up duty in the eighth. Lazar was erratic and issued two walks and a two-run bomb to Addison Barger.

Carlos Hernandez pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to secure the victory.

Alec Bohm had his first four-hit game since April 24th of last year.

Mick Abel will make his second big league start tomorrow night as he opposes Jose Berrios.
