BET PHILLIES (-105).
The Phillies entered Toronto on the heels of a disappointing homestand, losing 4 of 6 games, but quickly flipped the script with a convincing win Tuesday night. That victory marked their seventh in the last 8 road games, improving their road record to 18-11.
While the Blue Jays had won 4 straight at home prior to this series, those wins came against the struggling A’s. The Phillies are a much deeper and more balanced team, both at the plate and on the mound. They’re batting .254 on the road, tied for fourth-best in MLB, and now turn to top prospect Abel, who has impressed at Triple-A and in his MLB debut.
Berríos faces a tough task, especially against a Phillies lineup that’s homered off him before—Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, and Bryson Stott have all taken him deep. With momentum on their side and a deeper roster, Philadelphia is well-positioned to take Wednesday’s matchup as well.
PASS.
I don’t mind taking the run line here, but my official play will be the safer moneyline bet.
PASS.
There’s no clear edge on the total in Wednesday’s matchup between the Phillies and Blue Jays. The Over/Under is 5-5 in the last 10 meetings and also 5-5 in Philadelphia’s last 10 games. Toronto leans slightly to the Over, hitting in 6 of their last 10 contests. With an inexperienced starter facing a lineup he’s never seen and Berríos struggling historically against the Phillies, it’s best to focus on the moneyline instead of the total.
