BROWNSBORO, Texas (KLTV) – The Department of Public Safety released a report about a shooting that occurred in Brownsboro on Saturday.
DPS stated that it responded to assist local law enforcement with a suicidal person on the 11000 block of Ingram Street at approximately 3:30 p.m.
According to the report, a Texas DPS trooper observed the individual armed with a gun and gave commands for them to drop it. The armed individual refused commands and proceeded to raise the gun toward the trooper. The trooper then shot at the suspect, hitting them.
The release states that the person was provided medical care at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The release concluded by stating that no one else was injured during the incident and that it remains an open investigation.
A separate statement from the Brownsboro Police Department said the Brownsboro Police Department, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety responded to the incident.
The statement also said that there is currently no danger to the public and that the Texas Rangers are on scene and will be taking over the investigation.
