During a Worcester Red Sox game manager Iggy Suarez is a busy guy. Not only does he manage the game, he also coaches third base. It’s a dual role that he’s had throughout his time as a coach/manager in the minors.

Suarez on his double duty during games, “I mean, when it works out in your favor, it’s amazing. But when it doesn’t, it kind of like, you wish you could go back in the dugout and kind of hide a little bit. But yeah, so it’s something that I’ve been used to for quite some time to kind of be in the action. I’ve yet to experience being in the dugout and having somebody else making decisions over there.”

Suarez added that when he’s coaching third the game calms down for him, “It gives me a little bit of a calmness during the game like when the the chaos of big situations like believe it or not sounds weird but being in the middle of it and standing over in third base for some reason gives me like the calming aspect of it it’s weird like it’s especially playing here when when it gets loud and the horn is buzzing and you know it’s a big situation in the game and the crowd’s going crazy for some reason i’m like okay now now i feel at ease right now which is I guess it’s weird. Yeah, it’s a good thing, but I think I’d be going crazy in a dugout if I wasn’t helping for sure.”
