Mets season was supposed to be over Aug. 3, the day of the trade deadline. At least the interesting aspect of it. They were going to be playing out the string over the final two months, and they still may be.Â
But something fun has happened of late. The Mets have won with a bunch of guys nobody has heard of, reeling off 10 wins over their past 13 games entering play Tuesday.Â

The southpaw didn’t make his major league debut until Aug. 4, the day after the trade deadline, at the age of 26. The Mets selected him in the 14th round of the 2021 draft out of Illinois, and he was close to making the team in 2024.
