TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Chase Fuller has been one of the top baseball recruits in the Class of 2027 since he was in middle school. He’s currently ranked as the nation’s number three overall recruit by Perfect Game, second for middle infielders.
The shortstop committed to Florida State in the 8th grade, and his spot as one of the nation’s best was further solidified over the weekend when Fuller was named the 2026 Jackie Robinson Award Winner.
The award is given to Perfect Game’s National Player of the Year. Fuller said to hear his name called made him really happy, as this was always one of his goals.
He said he’s put in a lot of work, with a lot of miles traveling to tournaments and practices to get here, and winning this award makes all the sacrifices over the years worth it.
“Hearing that award called and just remembering all the times, last year for three months straight I was waking up at 4:30 working out,” he said. “Then the late nights traveling to practice starting at 11 years old, going to Jacksonville three times a week just for a travel ball practice and then doing all the work at Lincoln on my own and with my dad, all my coaches. It’s just all coming together. It’s going to be worth it real soon.”
Fuller said he still has a lot of goals left to accomplish, starting this upcoming weekend when he travels to North Carolina for Phase 2 of the 18U National Team trials. He said also wants to win Gatorade Player of the Year for Florida and the country, and of course, win another state title at Lincoln.
