The Rangers are 62-64 so far this season, and Cunningham has a simple solution to what they can do to get their playoff hopes back on track.

Pistons guard Cunningham was back in his hometown of Arlington to host the second ‘817 Day’ and unveil a newly renovated basketball court at George Stevens Park when he was asked about the Rangers.
“The Rangers? Win some games. Hit some home runs. Get some stops…Get outs & home runs. That’s what we need.”

Cunningham holds his stake in the Rangers through Sportsology Capital Partners, and the 24-year-old NBA guard has no operational power on the MLB franchise.
His ownership percentage is unknown, with this stake also held by other investors such as Joe Pastora and Garrick Patterson as the principal investors.
Cunningham’s stake might not amount to any operational value, but it is a strong financial bet that the Rangers, who were valued at around $2.47 billion around the time of the purchase, will improve in value.

While it’s a bonus to be able to own a piece of a team that you grew up supporting, this deal for Cunningham is likely just a smart investment and not anything more.
The 62-64 Rangers are currently one game behind the Houston Astros in the AL West, and would qualify for the Wild Card Round if the season ended today. But with about six weeks still left to play, the Rangers will have to string together a winning streak.
They can qualify as a division winner if they can overtake the Astros in the standings, or they can secure a Wild Card spot as one of the three best AL division runner-ups.
The Rangers are currently third behind the Yankees and Red Sox in the Wild Card race, just half a game ahead of the Twins and Blue Jays, and one game ahead of the Guardians, Tigers, and Orioles.
Cunningham’s comments reflect a very simple goal for the Rangers: win games. If they can finish the season above .500 and stay competitive, they should make a postseason appearance in 2026.
