EROWAH — Rhea Middle Schools early softball season continues to roll on with another victory on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles whipped McMinn East (McMinn Central) 12-3 in Etowah. McMinn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but from there it was all Rhea Middle, including a nine-run third inning by the Lady eagles.
Rhea middle played at home verses Greenback Middle school on Thursday night.
RMS 12, McMinn East 3
McMinn East went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but that lead didn’t last long.
In the second inning, Hannah James led off Rhea’s scoring by drawing a bases-loaded walk. after the second out of the inning, Mia Alday doubled home two runs to put RMS up 3-2.
McMinn East tied the game 3-3 with a run in the bottom of the second.
RMS then blew the game open with nine runs in the top of the third. Elle Brown was hit with the bases loaded, Sadie Bennett drew a bases-loaded walk, James singled home two runs, Aday doubled home two runs, Saydee Miller doubled in a pair of run and Kenzie Ferris tripled home a run.
That was all the scoring in the game as RMS won 12-3 in four innings.
Alday went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three doubles while Parker Lytle went 3-for-3 and scored twice. Saydee Miller drove in two runs and James had three RBIs. Ferris, Brown and Bennett each drove in one run each.
Miller pitched all four innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out six and walking four.
