Columbus Clippers (65-56) – AAA

Ben Lively and the Columbus Clippers defeated the St. Paul Saints 5-1 last night. Lively took the mound for the Clippers, throwing 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball. He gave up three hits and a walk, striking out four batters. Hunter Stanley got the win, improving to 2-1 on the season. Stanley gave up a solo home run, walked a batter, and struck out two in 2.1 innings of work. Ryan Borucki and Daniel Espino threw scoreless innings, both striking out two.

The Clippers scored five runs on six hits and five walks. Daniel Schneemann went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kody Huff went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.

Milan Tolentino batted in the final run of the game with a solo shot.

Akron RubberDucks (57-59) – AA

The RubberDucks had a heartbreaking one run loss to the Harrisburg Senators. Franklin Gómez struggled in his start, only making it 2.2 innings. Gómez gave up five runs on five hits and three walks. Jay Driver finished the third inning scoreless, but after walking a batter.

After the four run second inning, the Akron offense was gifted a run in the bottom of the second. With two outs, the Senators walked in a run then gave up a wild pitch to score the second run. In the bottom of the fifth, back-to-back singles and a force out had runners on the corners with one out. A stolen base and another single later brought home a runner and put runners on the corners again. Nolan Schubart hit his seventh home run of the season to give Akron the lead.

Zane Morehouse came on in the fourth and pitched 1.2 innings, only allowing two baserunners and striking out four. Sean Matson fell to 1-7 on the season, giving up three runs in the sixth and eighth innings. Matson went 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits, one walk, and striking out four. Carter Rustad finished the game with a clean, scoreless ninth.

Lake County Captains (62-52) – High A

The Lake County Captains took the W over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Jackson Humphries started the game, going 4.2 innings of work with six hits and one walk allowed. He gave up two runs, one earned, and struck out six. Donovan Zsak improved to 5-0 with the win. Zsak threw 1.1 innings of one hit ball. Luis Flores allowed two runs on four walks, walking in a run and allowing a run on a wild pitch. Jogly García closed out the game on two hits and three walks, but keeping it scoreless and striking out four.

The Caps won it on twelve hits and five walks. Anthony Martinez drove in two runs with a double in the first and a single in the third.

Tommy Hawke went 2-for-6 with two runs and two doubles. Welbyn Francisca went 2-for-5 with two runs and a walk. Cannon Peebles went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.

Hill City Howlers (49-68) – Single A

The Hill City Howlers were walked off in Friday night’s game against the Charleston RiverDogs. Erigaldi Perez earned a quality start with 6.0 innings of one run ball. Perez allowed six hits and two walks, but struck out five. Keegan Zinn pitched 2.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit and one walk, striking out one. Harrison Ruiz came on in the ninth to close it out. He allowed two hits, both doubles, for the walk off loss.

The Howlers score two runs on seven hits and four walks. Alejandro Blasco hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth to score Yerlin Luis from second. Jhorvic Abreus doubled on a liner to right in the top of the ninth to score Jonathan Martinez from second. Jonathon Martinez stole is 33rd base of the season in the ninth.
