As the San Francisco Giants continue to search for answers on offense, Bryce Eldridge is inching closer to making his major league debut.
The Giants announced this week that top prospect Bryce Eldridge has been promoted from AA Richmond to AAA Sacramento, meaning that the first baseman is one stop–and a 90-minute drive–away from joining the big-league club in San Francisco.
Eldridge, 20, was the 16th overall selection in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia.
The 6’7, 240-pound, left-handed hitting first baseman is the 21st-ranked prospect in all of baseball. Over 125 at-bats with Richmond this season, Eldridge is batting .280 with seven home runs and 20 RBI.

More on top SF Giants prospect Bryce Eldridge
After a red-hot 2024 season that saw Bryce Eldridge hit .293 with 23 home runs and 90 RBI to go along with a .903 OPS over three levels of minor league baseball (A, A+, AA), San Francisco felt it was worth giving Eldridge another week of action following the conclusion of the AA regular season.
Eldridge finished the 2024 campaign with AAA Sacramento, where he went eight-for-31 (.258) over eight appearances. Now, he’ll get an extended look with the River Cats as the everyday first baseman.
It’s not a secret that Eldridge is on the fast track to the majors, and with the Giants opting to pass on pursuing free agent star first baseman Pete Alonso during the offseason, the position could be there for Eldridge’s taking by the end of this season.
LaMonte Wade Jr., Wilmer Flores, and Casey Schmitt are currently splitting time between first and the designated hitter spot as Eldrige works through the minors, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the prospect make his debut sooner rather than later.
