On Saturday, the Roswell Invaders hosted the last game of a three-game series against the Trinidad Triggers at Joe Bauman Stadium.

The Invaders and the Triggers split the first two games, with the Triggers winning the first game 4-3 on Thursday and the Invaders taking the second game 10-8 on Friday. After this game, the Invaders got the day off on Sunday while the Triggers faced Santa Fe before the Invaders and Triggers play twice in Trinidad, Colorado.

For Saturday’s game, the Triggers started by scoring six straight runs in the first three innings to gain a 6-0 lead. It would be short-lived as the Invaders would score 10 runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to grab a 10-6 lead. The Invaders would keep the momentum for the rest of the game, outscoring the Triggers 6-3 in the sixth through the ninth, to win 16-9.

Exiting this home series, the Invaders’ record moved to 2-1 as of Sunday, while the Triggers’ record moved to 1-2. Trinidad improved to 2-2 after a 8-2 victory over Santa Fe on Sunday. For game totals, the Invaders had 13 hits and committed five errors, while the Triggers had 10 hits and two errors.

Shane Morrow (16) led the Invaders in hits with four, all doubles, while Eddy Navarro (1) had the Invaders’ only home run. George Sandifer (19) was the starting pitcher, and he lasted 2.1 innings, struck out one batter, allowed six hits and six runs. There were three other pitchers for the Invaders, with Ira Clifton (6) considered the winning pitcher.

Gleyder Abreu (14) led the Triggers in hits, while he and Carlos Urias (16) both had home runs. Juan Ortega (30) was the starting pitcher, and he lasted 2.2 innings, struck out four batters, allowed six hits and seven runs. Three other pitchers pitched for the Triggers, with Alan Ramirez (28) considered the losing pitcher.

The two teams played on Tuesday night in Trinidad. A final score was not available at press time from Monday or Tuesday.

Tonight, the Invaders start their series against Alpine with the first of two home games starting at 6:30 p.m.
