The Corcoran Panthers, the No. 4 seed in the Division V Central Section Playoffs, captured the championship after a dominant 18-6 win over No. 2 seed Shafter on May 30 at Valley Strong Ballpark in Visalia. Â
The Panthers scored 16 runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the win in five innings.Â
Corcoran earned the No. 1 seed in the CIF State Southern Regional Division V playoffs and hosted No. 8 seed University High (Los Angeles) on Tuesday, June 3. No scores were available at press time.
In their win over Shafter, Brayden Espinoza led the way for Corcoran with four RBIs. Ethan Chavez had three RBIs, while Cortez Portillo, Elijah Muthana and Cruz Portillo each finished with two RBIs. Brennan Botill earned the win on the mound.
Corcoran currently has a 25-4 overall record.Â
