Natera had been on the injured list since Aug. 20 with low back muscle spasms, retroactive to Aug. 17, but had a fairly quick return. Prior to his injury, the left-handed reliever appeared 20 times for the Angels, posting a 2.00 ERA through 27 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts. Additionally, he has three saves in as many opportunities.

He only made two rehab appearances, but looked as good as he had all season with two scoreless innings in Single-A.

The Angels’ bullpen got off to a great start after the firings of their coaching staff, but have struggled immensely over the past week. They have a 6.04 ERA out of the bullpen since Aug. 24, and Natera’s return is sure to do them some good.

Paris is a big addition to the team as well, as the Angels need help on offense. Since Aug. 1, the Angels have the worst offense in baseball—sporting a 74 wRC+ during that time.

Paris has been fantastic in Triple-A this season, playing 62 games with the Salt Lake Bees so far this year. He has a .981 OPS with the team through those 62 appearances, hitting 13 homers and driving in 50 runs. Paris last featured for the Angels in 2025, playing in 44 games at the start of the year.

He had an OPS just below .800 through the first full month of the season, but a sharp fall-off afterwards saw him demoted in May.

Paris, while listed as an infielder, played across the diamond for Triple-A Salt Lake before his promotion. He likely won’t play shortstop due to Zach Neto’s presence on that side of the middle infield, but second base is wide open for the taking.

Additionally, the Angels’ outfield is rather thin at the moment following Gustavo Camperos injury, so some depth on the grass wouldn’t hurt for the Halos.

Regardless of where he plays, the Angels will certainly have to find a spot to put Paris if he continues producing how he has for Triple-A Salt Lake over the past few months.
