Peter Strzelecki, RHP (right forearm extensor inflammation): The Cardinals put the relief pitcher on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right forearm extensor inflammation. Updated Aug. 27

JJ Wetherholt, 2B (right wrist tendinitis): Wetherholt received a cortisone injection and will have 72 hours of inactivity before seeing how his hand and wrist respond. He plans to remain with the team on the road trip, test the wrist with swings when cleared to do so, and see if he can return from the 10-day IL when eligible. That happens in time for the final day of the nine-game, three-city swing. Updated Sept. 2
