CHEYENNE – Right-hander Braden Pearson threw a complete game no-hitter to help the Cheyenne Sixers beat the Sheridan Troopers 7-0 in the winner’s bracket final at the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division I state tournament Sunday night in Gillette.

Pearson struck out 14 batters and walked just one. He needed 98 pitches to get through the game.

Cheyenne led 1-0 after 3 innings before pushing five across in the fourth.

Junior shortstop Quentin King had two hits – including a triple – and two RBI. Senior third baseman Kyler Hauf had a single and two RBI. Demitri Cotton added a double. Mason Maggard and Brodin Robbins both drove home runs.

The Sixers play Powell at 7 p.m. today. Cheyenne is guaranteed a spot in Tuesday’s state championship game regardless of the outcome of tonight’s contest. Powell would be eliminated with a loss.
