The Diamondbacks won the series opener on Tuesday, 8-3, after Zac Gallen threw seven innings with one earned run. Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte each homered twice to lead the offense, and Carroll’s three-run shot in the ninth inning allowed Arizona to hold off on using closer Justin Martinez.
The pitching matchup on Wednesday is right-hander Merrill Kelly for Arizona against Braves southpaw and 2024 NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale.
Sale threw five innings with one earned run against the D-backs at Chase Field on April 25. Kelly tossed six innings with two earned runs against the Braves on April 26.
