TAMPA, Fla. — Officials with Tampa Sports Authority expect a crowd of more than 65,000 people will start arriving Friday and Sunday afternoon for Metallica’s M72 World Tour “No Repeat Weekend” at Raymond James Stadium.
The Tampa Bay Rays also have games both days at Steinbrenner Field.
“Drivers and pedestrians alike are advised to allow for extra travel time and to travel through the area with caution beginning in late afternoon,” officials said in a news release. “Those not attending the concert are encouraged to travel on alternate routes.”
Heavy traffic is likely on main roads around the stadium. Those include Dale Mabry, Himes, Columbus and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
In addition, Tom McEwen Boulevard (Tampa Bay Boulevard) will be closed between Dale Mabry and Himes Ave beginning at 11 a.m. Friday until traffic clears after the Sunday show.
Parking lots open at noon Friday and Sunday for the concerts. The shows start at 6 p.m.
The Rays games are scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Friday and 12:10 on Sunday.
