Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain, Centennial to compete in 5A playoffs for both sports

Across Las Cruces, the season will continue.

All four of Las Cruces’ high schools — Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain and Centennial — have received a spot in the 5A state playoffs for both baseball and softball.

In baseball, Centennial received the highest seed of any Las Cruces school at No. 7 and will host No. 10-seed Rio Grande at the Field of Dreams Baseball Complex for its opening three-game series. Organ Mountain, Mayfield and Las Cruces received the No. 12, No. 13 and No. 16 seeds, respectively, and will all travel to play their first-round three-game series.

In softball, Centennial earned the No. 1 seed and will host No. 16-seed Eldorado for its opening play-in game at the Field of Dreams Softball Complex. Mayfield earned the No. 5 seed and will face Sandia at a neutral site. Las Cruces and Organ Mountain earned the No. 10 and No. 15 seeds, respectively, and will travel to La Cueva High School in Albuquerque for their play-in games.

Baseball

The New Mexico baseball playoffs begin with a three-game series in the first round, followed by single, knockout games in the quarterfinals, semifinals and final.

Softball

The New Mexico softball playoffs begin with play-in games to determine a final eight-team field. The winners of these play-in games advance to the eight-team championship round, while the losers see their seasons end.
