The No. 1 Firebells and No. 4 Hunters will be back at it this evening in Game 2 of their semifinal series in the first-ever WPBL postseason. If San Francisco wins, they will win the best-of-three series and eliminate Boston.

The Firebells won 6-4 in Game 1 on Wednesday in a close ballgame. Boston actually jumped out to a 1-0 lead and regained a 3-2 advantage after four innings. But San Francisco rallied back with two runs in the fifth and another two in the sixth to seal the win. Skylar Kaplan led the way, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Kelsie Whitmore earned the win on the mound, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in five innings. At the plate, the Firebells captain went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.

For anyone lucky enough to be in Springfield, Ill., there are great giveaways tonight.

On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Queens defeated the New York Heights 10-3 to go up 1-0 in their semifinal. Friday’s showtown will take place a little earlier than usual.
