Pierce The Veil may not literally have “Phantom Power and Ludicrous Speed,” to invoke the title of the four-man San Diego band’s high-octane 2016 song. But the hard-rocking group is moving forward with increasing velocity.
The homegrown group’s Saturday concert at Petco Park sold out the same weekend tickets went on sale in January. The show comes just two years after Pierce The Veil made its debut at the downtown stadium as the opening act for fellow San Diego favorites blink-182.
Pierce The Veil will be only second San Diego band to headline a Petco Park concert
But Piece The Veil is preceding its concert at the Major League Baseball home of the San Diego Padres with a new feature that neither blink — nor any other band or solo artist that has played at Petco Park — has ever had in the stadium before. Namely, a Pop-Up Shop in the historic Candy Factory that overlooks the stadium. (Metallica had a Pop-Up Shop for its 2017 Petco Park concert, but it was located in the Gaslamp Quarter, about half a mile away, at the corner of Fifth and Market.

The Pierce The Veil Pop-Up Shop is open until 8 p.m. today, Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. It features interactive activities — including a nail bar, temporary tattoos, a tinsel bar and screen printing — and photo opportunities, as well as offering exclusive concert merchandise that is available for purchase. The shop is produced by The Finest Collective, the San Diego Padres’ hospitality and events division.
