Georgia baseball extends coach Wes Johnson’s contract through 2032
Wes Johnson is staying in Athens after leading Georgia to a school-record 53 wins and a third-place finish at the College World Series.
ATHENS, Ga. —
Georgia baseball coach Wes Johnson has agreed to a contract extension through 2032, the university announced Wednesday.
The extension includes an increased compensation package for Johnson, who has led the Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournament appearances in his first three seasons at Georgia.
Johnson has guided Georgia to 139 wins, three NCAA Tournaments as a national top-eight seed, three NCAA Regional appearances, two NCAA Super Regionals and the 2026 College World Series.
The 2026 season was the most successful in program history. Georgia finished 53-14, setting a school record for wins, won the SEC regular-season championship and captured its first SEC Tournament title.
The Bulldogs also advanced to the College World Series for the seventh time in program history and finished tied for third in Omaha. Georgia ended the season ranked No. 3 nationally.
Georgia went 30-9 against SEC opponents and won the league by 3.5 games with a 23-7 conference record.
The Bulldogs also set program records with 179 home runs, 611 runs, 583 RBIs and 1,405 total bases. Georgia had a national-leading 13 players selected in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft.
Johnson has also coached two Georgia players who won the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award in the past three seasons. Charlie Condon won both awards in 2024, while catcher Daniel Jackson earned the honors in 2026.
J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks said Johnson’s leadership has helped elevate Georgia baseball into one of the country’s most consistent programs.
The 2026 season marked Georgia’s first College World Series appearance since 2008 and its first SEC championship since that same season.
