MEDFORD, Ore. – Progress continues on the proposal to bring a new baseball stadium to Medford, and the project team is completing pre-application reviews for two different locations. The Medford City Council authorized the study in June to examine the possibility of building the stadium.
The project team is evaluating the first location, Hawthorne Park, to develop a 10% conceptual design and construction cost estimate. The team is also reviewing a secondary location, Harry and David Field, to study the cost of modifying the existing site to meet professional baseball requirements. The pre-application for Harry and David Field was filed on September 16.

The city has not yet approved a stadium at either location, or decided whether there will be a stadium at all.
“This pre-app process is really a fact-finding mission- there’s no approvals coming from this, there’s no final decisions coming from this, this is just a process to collect more information to help us study these proposals,” said Medford interim City Manager John Vial.
The study is expected to be completed later this fall. Findings and a staff recommendation will then be presented to the City Council for review and further direction.
