MILWAUKEE — As if there wasn’t enough to be excited about surrounding Milwaukee Brewers baseball right now, the hits just keep on coming.
The Milwaukee farm system has no shortage of talent, with the Brewers holding one of the top pipelines in all of Major League Baseball. Pair that with the team’s MLB-leading record and recent NL Central title win, and you have a recipe for some longterm success for the Brew Crew.
One player, however, seems to be rising to a cut above the rest for Milwaukee this year, that player being third baseman Andrew Fischer.
Fischer, a 2025 first round pick for the Brewers out of Tennessee, has lit up the minors in his first full season within Milwaukee’s farm system.
Spending half the season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at the High-A level before being called up to the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A, Fischer has been a home run machine.
The 22-year-old has hit a staggering 48 home runs across his time with the T-Rats and Shuckers, a far cry from his one home run from the year prior (granted, his first season only lasted 19 total games compared to this year’s 126). The youngster’s home run total not only stands as the most homers in a single season by a minor league player since 1982, but the fifth-most by a minor leaguer in the Modern Era (1963-present).
Alongside his 48 home runs are a total of 114 RBIs, a .273 batting average and a 1.067 OPS. An interesting switch up from the current Milwaukee Brewers formula of only having 149 total home runs as a team this season, tied for the second-fewest in the entire MLB.
Fischer is one of three finalists for the MiLB’s Minor League Hitting Prospect of the Year award, an honor that will be announced on Monday, September 28, at the MiLB Awards Show on MLB Network.
While it remains uncertain how soon we’ll be seeing Fischer rise through the ranks to make his MLB debut for the Brewers, it’s hard not to be just as excited about Milwaukee’s future as we are about Milwaukee’s present.
