MLB Best Bets: Player Props for Tuesday, September 22

Tuesday’s MLB slate gives us three player props with attractive prices, including two strikeout overs at plus money. Yusei Kikuchi and Taj Bradley both have enough swing-and-miss upside to beat demanding numbers, while Corbin Carroll gets one of baseball’s most favorable hitting environments at Coors Field.

MLB Best Bets for TuesdayLos Angeles Angels vs. Athletics

Kikuchi hasn’t enjoyed an especially strong season, carrying a 5.02 ERA into Tuesday, but his recent strikeout production makes the plus-money price interesting. The left-hander has recorded 21 strikeouts over his last four starts spanning 21.1 innings, including six against Pittsburgh and another six against Philadelphia, so hitting this line might not be unrealistic. He’s still generating enough swings and misses to threaten six whenever his pitch count cooperates. 

Kikuchi has 58 strikeouts over 60.1 innings this season, and at +128, his recent strikeout rate provides enough upside to attack the over, especially since he’ll be facing an Athletics lineup that ranks 11th in the majors in total strikeouts.

Minnesota Twins vs. San Francisco Giants

Bradley’s recent form makes seven strikeouts a realistic target. The Twins right-hander has 199 strikeouts across 172.1 innings this season, giving him one of the strongest strikeout profiles on Tuesday’s slate. He’s also coming off a nine-strikeout performance against the Angels and has recorded 21 punchouts across 18 innings over his first three September starts. Bradley has reached at least six strikeouts in all three of those outings, while his latest start demonstrated the ceiling needed to clear this higher number. 

With the game taking place at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park and DraftKings offering plus money, Bradley’s current form makes the over worth backing. He has at least six strikeouts in his last six starts and has cleared this line four times over that stretch.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies

Few environments are better for a total-bases prop than Coors Field, and Carroll has the extra-base ability to capitalize. The Arizona outfielder enters Tuesday with 31 doubles, an MLB-leading 16 triples and 22 home runs, giving him 69 extra-base hits among his 134 hits this season. He’s slugging .470 through 150 games despite hitting just .240. 

Colorado will start Kyle Freeland, who carries a 6.38 ERA into the matchup, while Carroll will have the platoon advantage against the left-hander. One extra-base hit is enough to cash, and Carroll’s combination of power, speed and Coors Field makes 1.5 total bases an appealing target at close to even money.
