Braves lose, Milwaukee Brewers clinch first-round postseason bye
MILWAUKEE —
The Milwaukee Brewers have clinched a first-round bye in the National League postseason.
Milwaukee secured one of the top two seeds after the Atlanta Braves fell to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.
The result guarantees the Brewers will skip the opening Wild Card Series and advance directly to the NL Division Series.
The bye gives Milwaukee valuable time to rest its players and set up its pitching staff before beginning its postseason run.
It’s been a historic season for the Milwaukee Brewers. Just this season, the team has won the NL Central, the first time in the division’s history that a team has won it four times in a row, and they set a franchise record with at least 98 wins this season.
