Detroit Tigers sign multiyear extensions with broadcasters Jason Benetti and Dan Dickerson

DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers are keeping the voices of their broadcasts in place for years to come.

The team announced multi-year contract extensions with television play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti and radio play-by-play announcer Dan Dickerson, ensuring both continue their Tigers coverage on Detroit SportsNet and the Tigers Radio Network.

Benetti joined the Tigers ahead of the 2024 season as the team’s lead television voice, and has become a fan favorite, according to the Tigers.

Benetti has also taken on national work, recently joining NBC Sports as the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, along with other network duties.

Dickerson made his Tigers debut in 2000 alongside Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell and became the team’s lead radio voice in 2003. This past season marked Dickerson’s 27th on Tigers radio, and the Tigers said the new extension carries his tenure with the organization into a fourth decade.

Dickerson is a three-time Michigan Sportscaster of the Year and a recipient of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association’s Ernie Harwell Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Tigers also credited Dickerson’s role as a teammate with helping bring Benetti to Detroit. With Benetti’s national profile already established and growing, the team said it needed a trusted voice to call television games during Benetti’s network assignments.

Though Dickerson had long preferred radio, the Tigers said he agreed to take on a slate of television games and will continue as the radio voice under his new agreement while also calling an expanded slate of games on Detroit SportsNet.
