Dan Dickerson is staying with the Detroit Tigers for a fourth decade, with the longtime radio play-by-play voice signing a multiyear contract extension with the club. Television play-by-play voice Jason Benetti has also signed a multiyear extension.

The agreements keep Dickerson and Benetti at the center of Tigers broadcasts on the Tigers Radio Network and Detroit SportsNet.

Dickerson made his Tigers debut in 2000 alongside Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell and became the club’s lead radio voice in 2003. The 2026 season was his 27th on Tigers radio, which originates on Audacy’s WXYT-FM “97.1 The Ticket.”

A three-time Michigan Sportscaster of the Year and recipient of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association’s Ernie Harwell Lifetime Achievement Award, Dickerson will continue as the Tigers’ primary radio voice under the new agreement. He will also call an expanded slate of television games on Detroit SportsNet.

The expanded TV role is tied in part to Benetti’s growing national responsibilities. Benetti joined the Tigers ahead of the 2024 season as the team’s lead television voice and recently joined NBC Sports as the voice of “Sunday Night Baseball,” along with other network assignments.

Dickerson’s willingness to take on television work helped the Tigers bring Benetti to Detroit. Although Dickerson had long preferred radio, he agreed to call a slate of television games during Benetti’s network commitments.

“I have the best job in the world,” Dickerson said. “There is nothing better than calling games for the team you grew up watching.”

He added that he was grateful to the Tigers organization for continuing to entrust him with the role and said calling games for the club, working with its staff and broadcasting to its fans, was beyond his wildest dreams.

Benetti has become a prominent part of the Tigers’ television coverage since arriving in Detroit. Tigers President and CEO Ryan Gustafson said the organization is proud to have both broadcasters as its voices and credited them and the broader broadcast teams with helping build the club’s connection with fans.

“Jason and Dan, alongside many others, continue to deliver an entertaining and informed broadcast that is among the best in baseball,” Gustafson said.

Benetti thanked Tigers ownership and management for their partnership and said the organization’s combination of a commitment to excellence and creativity has made his time with the club rewarding.

“Our DSN crew is full of extraordinarily creative people who have established themselves as a gold standard in baseball TV coverage,” Benetti said. “It is my honor to stand alongside these brilliant people.”
