Red Sox fans react to announcement of Mickey Gasper’s injury ahead of Wild Card Series
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The Red Sox officially announced New Hampshire’s Mickey Gasper will be on the 10-day injured list on Sunday.
News 9 spoke with sports fans in Manchester about the recent announcement that came ahead of the Wild Card Series this week.
“That sucks. I mean, obviously, I want him to be able to play in that game, especially since he’s a local kid from Merrimack. He’s been mashing home runs lately, so it’s going to suck not having that power in the lineup,” said Andrew Hoenig of Manchester.
Gasper has hit 10 home runs for the Boston Red Sox after being called up from the Worcester Red Sox in May.
The Red Sox will face the Yankees starting Tuesday. This is the second consecutive year the two teams will compete against each other in the series. The Yankees defeated the Red Sox in the game two in 2025.
“I was actually at one of the games a couple of weeks ago when he hit a home run at Fenway. He’s been one of the more reliable guys, so I think it’s going to really hurt the team, it’s a big loss,” said Michael Garczynski of Manchester.
Both fans said they still believe the Red Sox can win the series.

Thursday, Oct. 1 — Two-game scenario: Red Sox at Yankees, 8 p.m. or 7 p.m. if White Sox at Rangers/Astros and D-backs/Phillies at Braves are over.
