They are the top postseason seeds in their respective leagues.
Each team plays a similar brand of baseball.
And to this point, neither franchise has won a World Series.
This could be the year the Milwaukee Brewers or Tampa Bay Rays finally hoist a championship trophy.
But only one of them can be the last club standing.
That’s why a matchup between the Brewers and Rays in the postseason’s final round could be “fun” for Major League Baseball fans, among several other reasons.
“Both teams are sort of outliers in this era of power ball, ranking in the bottom third in home runs, with the Brewers last in the majors for much of the season,” ESPN’s David Schoenfield wrote.
Out-homering your opponent is usually a good indicator of a club that’s made a deep postseason run.
The Rays ranked 22nd in the Majors with 169 homers, while the Brewers finished 28th with 154.

“They rank 1-2 in batting average and will deploy some old-school small ball — the Rays led the majors in both sacrifice bunts and bunt hits while both teams finished in the top five in stolen bases. Both are also exceptional defensive teams,” Schoenfield added.
Schoenfield indicated that this series could be a breath of fresh air for baseball fans who are “tired” of the three-true outcomes (home run, strikeout, walk) style of offense.
Would a Brewers-Rays World Series be exciting, or would two small-market organizations hurt the TV ratings?
