The A’s new ballpark is making steady progress in Las Vegas, but the cost of the project is also rising.
A state-of-the-art home for the relocating franchise is currently under construction on the historic site of the former Tropicana Hotel, which will soon bring Major League Baseball to Sin City.

The initial cost of the 33,000-seat indoor stadium, designed by internationally acclaimed architect Bjarke Ingels, was estimated around $1.7 billion.
Later figures put the cost higher, at $2bn, and according to new reports, the figure has skyrocketed once more.
Cost of new A’s ballpark rises ahead of relocation
According to Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the cost of the project has jumped to $2.1bn.
That means the final total will be higher than that of Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL‘s Las Vegas Raiders, which cost $1.9bn to build.

Despite a rise, the A’s don’t plan to tap public funding available for the construction, from Clark County, until the middle of next year.
Up to $380 million in public funding available, including $180m in transferable tax credits from the state, $25m in funds earmarked for infrastructure upgrades by the county, and the rest to come from bond sales and special tax district revenues.
Akers reports that since construction started in June 2025, the team has paid for the nearly $700m worth of work to date.
Part of the rising cost is due to the A’s now being responsible for building a parking garage and central utility plant for their new ballpark.
That cost initially fell to Bally’s Corp, which is building a mixed-use development on the remaining 26 acres of the 35-acre site in Sin City.
A’s senior advisor Sandy Dean has suggested that by the time public money is used on the stadium project, the team will have spent $1.2bn of their own cash.

Despite more of a financial burden, the construction of the ballpark and surrounding development remains on track.
The A’s hope to move into their new home for the 2028 MLB season, with a completion date of February 29, 2028.
How are the A’s financing their new stadium?
According to the Review-Journal, the A’s are using $300m in loans from Goldman Sachs and US Bank toward their construction costs.
Minority stakes in the team have also been sold off to raise capital for the new ballpark.
Stadium concessionaire Aramark Sports + Entertainment reportedly has a $175m stake, while a South Korean group that includes a member of pop group BTS, and a former MLB pitcher, have invested $70m.
Private equity firm Harbinger Sports Partners, which includes Mark Cuban, also has a stake.
