New York Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo was one of several players on the team who had an outing to forget on Tuesday vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 32-year-old went 0-for-4 and also tweaked his leg while fielding a ball during the 5-1 loss.
Nimmo stayed in the game, but the ailment is the latest curveball in what’s been a lukewarm season for him. The 10th-year veteran is slashing .211/.272/.406 with seven homers and 23 RBI in 35 games. The slash line is far below his career mark of .259/.367/.437.

“[Knee is] good, for the most part. I think we dodged a bullet, that’s great,” the Wyoming native said. “Felt it hyperextend when I went over to get the ball and was fortunate to get off of it pretty quickly and prevent more damage from being done.”
“We’ll see how it is in the next 12 hours or so,” he continued. “I expect to be good to go to play.”
New York will have its rubber match against the Diamondbacks (19-17) on Wednesday afternoon before hosting the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. After that, it’ll go back on the road to face the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

The Mets (23-14) are still two games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East despite being 4-6 in their last 10 contests. They have the third-best record in the NL and fourth-best in MLB.
Ace right-hander Kodai Senga (3-2, 1.38 ERA) will pitch for New York on Wednesday.
